Dost Mazaari refuses to issue Khawaja Salman's production orders
Mazaari said that he had no authority to issue production orders under Punjab Assembly rules.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazaari on Tuesday refused to issue production orders of provincial assembly member Khawaja Salman Rafique.
Following the arrest of Khawaja Salman Rafique, a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) met Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazaari.
The delegation includes Waris Kalu, Raheela Khadim Hussain, Bushra Butt, Malik Arshad and others.
On the occasion, the PML-N leadera gave written application to the deputy speaker asking him to issue production orders of the member Punjab assembly.
Mazaari said that he had no authority to issue production orders under Punjab Assembly rules.
He said that the National Assembly Speaker has the authority but there was no room for such thing in Punjab Assembly rules.
Earlier, Khawaja Saad Rafique, a close aide of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, and his brother Salman Rafique, a former minister in the Punjab province government, were arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after the Lahore High Court rejected their bail application.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Tariq Abbasi heard the petition of the PML-N leader and his brother seeking an extension in their interim bail.
According to details, Khawaja brothers appeared before the court today but the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected their request for another extension and NAB arrested them.
During the hearing, advocate NAB said that Khawaja brothers has link with Paragon Housing scam. Saad Rafique’s wife was partner in Paragon Housing city with Qaiser Ameen Butt and Kawaja brothers have accepted that they had been receiving profit from the project. On the other hand, the son-in-law of Saad Rfique was also partner in the project.
NAB had summoned the former railways minister and his brother on October 16 in a case related to the Paragon Housing scam. The two brothers had moved the Islamabad High Court to provide a protective bail which the latter had rejected and advised the petitioners to approach the LHC.
